Success is not as simple as having a beautiful face; it is a combination of chance, timing, opportunity, but most importantly, hard work. Gabrielle Miller is the embodiment of hard work, it wasn't enough for her to break a sweat starring in Corner Gas, the highest-rated Canadian TV series of all time, so this dog-loving vegetarian also makes time to appear in Robson Arms, and even go on a hu
manitarian mission to Mali. Her indisputable qualities as an actress and warmth of character have made her one of the most sought after Canadian actresses and her agenda is as tight as a drum. After sitting down for a chat with Gabrielle, it was refreshing to ?nd that even though she has rubbed elbows with Hollywood's elite, she is still very much a downto-earth Canadian girl.
When did you start acting? How did you get into acting? What made/ inspired you to want to act?
I started acting professionally at 17. I was in class and Nancy van Gogh, my agent, asked my coach if he had any young women in my age range. We met, started working together, and have been together ever since. I was drawn to acting as a young child because I was incredibly shy but had a big imagination. Acting was an outlet for me to express myself in a creative way.
Favourite role that you have played in the past or current?
I love both the shows I am on right now-Robson Arms and Corner Gas. Comedy has been fun. As I have been on two series it doesn't leave much time to go out for other roles so I'm looking forward to what the future holds.
What kind of advice do you have for struggling actors/entertainers who look up to your success?
Artists know they're artists and nothing can change that. Listen to your heart and follow your own path.
If you weren't an actress/entertainer, what else might you be doing today?
Underwater Basket Weaver-that's for my brother Jon.
We heard the bad news about Corner Gas not being renewed for next season. How does this decision make you feel?
Corner Gas is not returning after its 6th season because Brent has decided that it is time, this is different than "not being renewed". I support Brent's decision, as sad as this might be to say good-bye, Corner Gas will go out on top.
With it being the most successful sitcom to ever be aired in Canada (and now it's being cancelled), what does this say about the future of Canadian television (is there hope)?
Again, our show is not being "cancelled". So I am very hopeful. (From the release "The series has paved the way for other Canadian productions by proving that if you make great TV, Canadians will watch").

We are having a great response as Corner Gas airs in the US and other countries world wide.
Are there any other ?lms or TV appearances that your fans can look forward to seeing you in soon?
Yes, yes, yes. Please tune into Robson Arms Season 3, starting April 28th on CTV right after Dancing with the Stars.
Where did you grow up? Where is your family from?
We grew up all over Vancouver, literally. My family now lives in the Slocan Valley. It's absolutely stunning out there.
Do you exercise? What is a 'workout' for Gabrielle Miller look like?
Exercise is a big part of my life. I feel so much better when I ?nd the time. My life gets so busy so it is important that I ?nd the time in my schedule. I like a variety of activities.
When I am in Regina I have a great Pilates Studio I go to. My dear friend and actor Sarah Strange introduced me to boxing so I workout with a trainer in Vancouver whenever I can ?nd the time. I enjoy yoga, hiking and walking with my friends and puppy. I love being in nature and with my dog so I cherish the walks. And African dancing-I was just introduced to it and fell in love with it. I would like to ?nd more classes to take.
Where do you call home? What draws you to live there?
Vancouver. I was raised there, so I always miss being there when I'm away working. The ocean and beautiful air is like nowhere else. So many of my friends are there, as well as a few family members. Love it.
Favourite vacation type? Favourite vacation destination?
I have only taken one vacation in the last 8 years, so I don't feel quali?ed to answer this question. With that said, I will say that one of my most memorable travels was to Mali, Africa last December (2007) for World Vision. Although it was a working trip that experience is one of the most valuable in my life. I fell in love with the people, the place and it holds a very special place in my heart.
Wine or port? Brand or type?
Wine, I usually need help choosing. Luckily I have good wine connections.
Favourite vehicle? What's your dream vehicle?
I've got it. Volvo S80 Sedan. It's a total dad car.
Are you a yacht or sailboat kind of gal?
Dingy! This shoot was a ?rst for me and being on a yacht was great. I have not been on a sailboat, yet.
Ski or snowboard?
I am not great at either but snowboarding comes a tad more naturally. I grew up with skateboarders.
Favourite clothing designer?
Jason Matlo.
Favourite shoe manufacturer?
Christian Louboutin
Favourite watch? Dream watch?
I have this beautiful Cartier bedside clock I received as a gift a few years back. It's beautiful. As for watches? I don't know, I love pieces with a masculinity to them.
Favourite thing/out?t to wear on a Sunday afternoon?
I spend so much time in clothing and makeup for work, I absolutely love wearing cozy cashmere sweaters, comfy pants and no makeup!
Favourite way to relax and get away from it all?
Being with my family, hiking in the Valhalla wilderness and not having any Blackberry service.
Even though Corner Gas is not coming back for next season, it is clear that the show is leaving us on a high note. But don't expect Gabrielle to disappear anytime soon. We can still expect to catch a glimpse of this talented brunette in the upcoming CTV movie Elijah and more.
